the master Submitted by dotal on Sun, 01/10/2010 - 2:57pm. Well I have listened to the pod casts of the “ end of time” parts 1 and 2
And many have stated at the master coming back is too much magic here is a quote from Babylon 5 that may help you, “Technomage’ “ we use science to achieve the affect of magic, a lesser mind will only see magic not the effect”
Magic vs Science Submitted by Louis Trapani on Sun, 01/10/2010 - 4:50pm. I love Babylon 5 as well.
With that said, there is a difference between science fiction that uses principals of science and technology that would make it appear what was happening on screen to be magic and pure fantasy that doesn't attempt to explain the 'magic' on screen.
Granted not every detail needs an explanation but some are required to get to point A to point B sometimes, otherwise the audience just isn't there for the ride.
Cheers,
Louis
Did the regeneration relly take a long time? Submitted by Troy Baker on Mon, 01/11/2010 - 10:26pm. This isn't the first time that the regeneration has taken a while. When the 3rd Doctor regenerated at the end of "Planet of the Spiders" he commented that he had been lost in the vortex. We don't know how long he had really been gone but we are led to think that it was a long while.
To support the idea we have the Brigadier and Sarah Jane discussing how long it had been since they had lost seen him when the TARDIS materializes in UNIT.
Ironically his regeneration was triggered by radiation from the crystals on Metebelias III, while the 10th Doctor absorbed radiation from the chamber. In both cases radiation poisoning.
The difference is we didn't see what happened to the 3rd Doctor, while we see some of the things that happen to the 10th Doctor.

Regeneration… It's making you wait. Submitted by Louis Trapani on Tue, 01/12/2010 - 12:03am. Good point Troy. I believe someone else make a comparison to the 3rd Doctor's radiation poisoning in the live show (I can't recall which part now) which led to his regeneration into the 4th Doctor.
Cheers,
Louis
